Haiku

Backyard of the Monson/Gors farm, Beresford, S.D.
On Falls Park, Sioux Falls:
short falls ready-mix,
river flows into foam and
postcard fodder
shallow falls belching
foam, clouds effervescing
garbage muck from clear
On latticework at the Monson/Gors farm:
vines and lattice work,
meant to be to sodden scenes,
await all the brides
On the Monson/Gors farm:
blackbirds dive drunk . . .
Christ’s marionettes, serving
as shadowed warnings
nature’s languages,
distant like Italian, and
sung in falsetto
